As described in [[Definition of SIP#CLOCKSS Submission Information Package|Definition of SIP]], the CLOCKSS archive uses two types of SIP:
* [[Definition of AIP#Creating an AIP from a harvest SIP|Content for a harvest SIP]] is fetched from the publisher's web site using HTTP, and its URL thus includes the publisher's domain name.
* [[Definition of AIP#Creating an AIP from a file transfer SIP|Content for a file transfer SIP]] is transferred using a publisher-specific user name and password, which identifies the publisher.
