3.2.1 - The repository shall have identified and established the duties that it needs to perform and shall have appointed staff with adequate skills and experience to fulfil these duties.

The duties of the CLOCKSS Archive are described and related to the OAIS Mandatory Responsibilities in CLOCKSS: Mandatory Responsibilities.

The organization of the CLOCKSS Archive, described in CLOCKSS: Governance and Organization, is in three parts:

  • The Board, whose duties and staffing are described in CLOCKSS: Governance and Organization.
  • The Management, whose duties and staffing are described in CLOCKSS: Governance and Organization
  • The LOCKSS team, which operates the CLOCKSS Archive as described in CLOCKSS: Governance and Organization, in addition to developing and maintaining the LOCKSS software and supporting its use in some 13 networks around the world preserving a wide range of types of content. The LOCKSS team has been in existence for 15 years and has been economically sustainable without grant funding for more than 5 years.
