4.3.3 Mechanisms to change preservation plans as a result of its monitoring activities
From CLOCKSS Trusted Digital Repository Documents
4.3.3 - The repository shall have mechanisms to change its preservation plans as a result of its monitoring activities.
Two features of the environment are monitored:
- Operating system support for LOCKSS requirements. As demonstrated by the transition from OpenBSD to Linux described in LOCKSS: Software Development Process, the LOCKSS team has the capability to move operating system platforms in response to perceived deficiencies.
- Web browser format support. In the event of one of the formats identified by the CLOCKSS daemon's integrated File Identification Tool Set (FITS) suffering looming obsolescence, the change of plan needed would be to choose, or to change the choice of, the format to migrate that format to in the event that some AU containing files of that format were ever to be triggered as described in CLOCKSS: Extracting Triggered Content and LOCKSS: Format Migration.
The operational and technical aspects of the CLOCKSS: Preservation Strategy, from which the preservation plan is derived, are regularly reviewed
