4.3.2 Mechanisms for monitoring its preservation environment

4.3.2 - The repository shall have mechanisms in place for monitoring its preservation environment.

Two features of the environment are of concern:

• The ability of operating system, the Java VM and the libraries to support the requirements of the LOCKSS software, and the other software components used by the CLOCKSS archive (see CLOCKSS: Hardware and Software Inventory). Monitoring of this is described here.
• The set of formats supported by the Web browsers in the Knowledge Base of the Designated Community. Monitoring of this is described in LOCKSS: Software Development Process.

The operations of the CLOCKSS network are monitored as described in CLOCKSS: Box Operations.
